What Harm Can Excess Carbohydrate Cause?

It is not the fat in the foods we eat but, far more, the excess carbohydrates from our starch- and sugar-loaded diet that is making people fat and unhealthy.

If you or people in the family or friend circle are experiencing any of the below mentioned symptoms, the possibility is that may be the excess carbohydrates in your body is responsible for symptoms like:

  • Gaining weight
  • Fatigue and feeling sleepy all the time
  • Depression
  • Fog like feeling in the brain
  • Low blood sugar
  • and high blood pressure etc.

It’s a Fact That We All Need a Certain Amount of Carbohydrates

The carbohydrates that we get through:

  • Grains
  • Potatoes
  • Rice
  • Bread
  • Sweets and other starchy and sugary foods

All of the above is far too much than our we need and body’s capacity to store it.

This excess carbohydrate simply gets converted, via insulin, into fat and gets stored in the adipose or fatty tissue.

The foods that are marketed to us are focused too much on:

  • Bread
  • Cereal
  • Pasta
  • Corn (corn is grain for your information and not a vegetable)
  • Rice
  • Potatoes etc.

All these have grave consequences on our health, and as if all this was not enough already, that most of these carbohydrates we consume or are marketed to us are available in the form of processed food.

All This Affects Insulin in Our Body

Insulin is a hormone, which stores the excess calories from carbohydrates in the form of fat.

Basically, Insulin is responsible for all those bulging stomachs and fat rolls in thighs and chins.

High insulin levels affects functioning of two other important hormones adversely – Glucagon and Growth hormones.

These burn fat and sugar and help muscle development. Insulin from excess carbohydrates promotes fat, that deteriorates body’s ability to lose that fat.

The disadvantages of consumption of excess carbohydrate do not end there.

Besides the above it also affects our immune system adversely.

This leads to allergies and a host of digestive disorders.

It can cause depression also. Excess consumption of carbohydrate can also result in life threatening diseases like cancer and diabetes.

Children and Excess Carbohydrates

The problem of obesity in children is a very concern issue in all around the world modern countries.

Since parents are working outside home and they don’t have enough time to cook healthy meals they just decide to go and get processed food or eat outside more often.

As we all know the processed food are containing a lot of carbohydrates, salt and artificial colors which are very dangerous for our health.

I personally am one of those parents who have no time for cooking so often and have no choice other than order food or just put the frozen processed food into the oven in order to feed the family.

However, once in every few weeks it should be okay to order food or go to the restaurant but if that happens few times a week, it should be concern and it can be very dangerous for our health.

School’s cafeterias should offer healthy food, by doing that at least the children can have one portion of their daily meal with healthy food.

Unfortunately the school’s cafeterias in Canada contains a lot of salt although the nutritionists are supervising their menus but no one is there to do the quality control of their meal.

When I was working at the school board, I was always complaint to the cafeteria’s responsible at my schools but they state that they all come in packages form the board and they just put them together.

Especially in the gravy that comes in already made packages was very salty that I couldn’t eat it.

Imagine if your child eats that type of food in her/his daily diet, what type of health problems your child will have in the future.

The governments and health care system should be more cautious about schools and children’s right nutritional values especially in the modern countries with busy lifestyle.

Conclusion

In order to control the excess carbohydrates we should have a right daily diet with all the necessary nutritional values.

Exaggerating in any type of nutrition is not healthy and will lead us with excess carbohydrates, diabetic, and serious health issues.

You should make sure when you go to get your groceries get the combination of everything for your daily diet.

Minimize the amount of carbs in your diet and replace it with more vegetable and fruits in order to have a happy and healthy family.
