Petty Irritations Or Not So Petty Irritations

Although illness and diseases are the main topics I like to diversify to other subjects, today it is petty irritations, or not so petty irritations.

I am talking about things that come up in your life and cause pain or irritation for a short time.

Nothing serious of course but at the time they can cause you pain or discomfort and even make your life a misery for a while.

Itchy skin is one; it can drive you mad if you can’t get to scratch it. This can be caused by your skin being dry or insect bites. My remedy for that including the insect bites is Vaseline. It may seem slightly old fashioned with all the new and modern treatments and creams on the market today, but it works a treat and cost a fraction of those creams and tubes you buy.

Vaseline soothes the skin and it is great for dry lips as well, it is even mild enough for baby so put a jar in your medicine cupboard and forget those expensive creams and salves. Continue reading “Petty Irritations Or Not So Petty Irritations”

To Sleep Better – Eat Light and Think Light

We know of so many people for whom going to sleep is not easy even though they have worked hard through the day- both physically and mentally and are also feeling tired. This is called insomnia and there are many reasons for insomnia.

When the mind is too awake and active, it’s not easy to go into a slumber. Or even if we do manage to sleep, we are restless and are not able to enjoy a deep, peaceful sleep.

Therefore when people with insomnia wake up they are not feeling afresh and rejuvenated, as they should after a good night’s sleep.

There are number of theories and opinions about how much sleep a person needs. This varies from person to person, lifestyle to lifestyle and health. Most of us would not disagree with the fact that the deeper and more peaceful the sleep we experience, the more rested and rejuvenated we feel the next morning. Exchanging Convenience for Your Health

Exchanging convenience for your health is a bad bargain, no matter how you look at it. People are settling for all kinds of conveniences because of their lifestyles which is increasingly becoming career centric. There are other reasons too which are responsible for it but the big daddy of all is having to go out to work.

In majority of cases these days both parents are working full time. And if they have children who need looking after the best option for them is cr-che. The cr-che do their jobs. And treating raising children as a job hardly sounds like good attitude.

I am not against working at all. I understand the value of economic independence and extra income very well. But I still strongly feel you need to be more sensible to organize and balance life in such a manner that life doesn’t suffer. Continue reading “Exchanging Convenience for Your Health”

It’s absolutely true and makes sense that alcohol is tonic as well as poison. Depending upon the dose. Moderate drinking has been seen as benefiting the heart and circulatory system, and in all probabilities it also protects against type 2 diabetes and gallstones.

Knowing Your Family Medical History

It’s a delightful game parents play whose nose the child has got, whose hair and eyes. This links the child to the family and creates a bond. But there is another more serious side to heredity and that is a family’s medical history.

Knowing which aunt had breast cancer and which uncle or grandparent had Alzheimer’s would help a person far more. You are likely to have inherited anything from diabetes and alcoholism to heart disease along with the brown hair and green eyes.

So nowadays doctors make it a point to ask you to research your family medical background so they can find out what disease you are at genetic risk for. Continue reading “Knowing Your Family Medical History”
